The boys were begging to make cookies and I just love a good Dutch spiced cookie so I adjusted a basic recipe to taste like them. It was exactly what my husband said they tasted like so thought I’d better share! We also melted chocolate and coated some at the end as which kid doesn’t love a chocolate coated spiced cookie right ?! Anyway here’s the recipe x


350 Grams plain flour

1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda

Pinch of salt

Spices: We used …

Chai Tea mix ( generous 2 teaspoons)

Ground Ginger (generous 1-2 teaspoons)

Cardamom and Clove ( another teaspoon )

170 grams brown sugar

1 egg

100grams butter melted

4 tablespoons of Golden Syrup


Mix together with fingers, roll and press cookies, it can be a bit crumbly but softens with fingers and squashes back together :) we cooked half the mix and refrigerated the other half to bake fresh cookies in two days :)  Bake at moderate temp for 10-12 minutes - depending on how thick yoy want to make them :)
