WELLNESS JUICES
We recently got a juicer after repeatedly borrowing my parents one over the years I decided it was time and it’s been in use every single day!
Here’s a few combos I thought I’d share especially if you’ve been unwell or on a wellness journey to feel revitalised coming into spring .. I’ve been juicing in the morning then bottling them to take to work etc over a couple of days.
Pear, Kale & Lemon - Get your greens with an added sweetness and lemon curd through to add freshness, a lovely mid morning juice to reach to instead of a second coffee!
While pears fight inflammation, promote gut and heart health, protect against certain diseases, and even aid weight loss kale contains four times the vitamin C content and twice the selenium content of spinach, as well as nutrients like vitamin E and beta-carotene. Lemons improve your skin health, lower your risk of kidney stones, enhance iron absorption, bolster your immune system and reduce blood pressure.
Celery, Green Apple and Kiwifruit - While celery juice on its own is very popular it’s also fab with a touch of tart sweetness from the green apple and kiwi.
Celery juice is low in sugar and contains potassium and vitamins A, C, and K assisting in reducing inflammation and boosting hydration. Green apple is considered a natural detoxifier for the kidney, liver, and digestive systems. It frees your body from toxins and other harmful elements that could otherwise take a toll on your health. Kiwifruit adds vitamin B and C, as well as potassium. These life-enriching nutrients contribute to increased energy, stamina and muscle recovery.
Beetroot, Berry and Black Pepper - I use frozen mixed berries for this and add the ground black pepper to taste once juiced, the pepper enhances the flavour (just don’t go overboard with it) and adds the benefits below! You can also juice your beets then add in the blender/bullet with he frozen berries and black pepper if you want more fibre.
Beetroot is high in nitrates and potassium, needed for bone health and proven to lower blood pressure. Also good for general gut health and the prevention of constipation while most of us are aware that berries are super rich in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. Black pepper is a good source of manganese, a mineral that can help with bone health, wound healing, and metabolism. In addition, micro-vascular dilation acts more on the brain by stimulating the central nervous system responsible for increased blood flow in the sexual organs! A fab couples juice haha!
Orange, Carrot, Ginger and Tumeric
A great one for those winter colds especially if you’ve got oranges (or the like) on trees to use.
Fresh orange juice is another excellent source of antioxidants, which are substances that protect the body's cells from damage caused by free radicals. Antioxidants help prevent chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes and cancer. Ginger is a popular natural remedy for stomach issues including indigestion and bloating. It will also help you deal with constipation, cramping and nausea. Tumeric can be helpful for inflammation, arthritis, hyperlipidemia (cholesterol in the blood), muscle soreness after exercise and kidney health. High-quality studies show that turmeric has major benefits for your body and brain/memory. Many of these benefits come from its main active ingredient, curcumin.
